Our Services
What We Do
-
Forensic Interviews
A forensic interview is an opportunity for a child or adolescent to sit down with a trained expert to talk about anything that is bothering them. The interview is conducted in a developmentally-sensitive, trauma-informed manner that provides the child or adolescent with space to have a conversation with the interviewer.
-
Medical Evaluations
Medical providers who specialize in child abuse pediatrics provide comprehensive, developmentally-sensitive, trauma-informed medical assessments, and care for children suspected of being maltreated. Medical evaluations are provided to ensure the health of the child. A medical evaluation includes medical history, physical exam, and, when appropriate, documentation of any signs of abuse, collection of physical evidence, diagnostic testing, and testing for other medical conditions that could be mistaken for maltreatment, treatment, and referrals.
-
Advocacy
At the time of the CAC appointment, both child and family advocates are available to meet with the family to discuss resources and support. CAC advocates can also provide follow-up support as requested by the caregivers. Additionally, Lakeshore CAC partners with several community advocacy agencies to ensure a warm hand-off to community resources included advocacy, therapy, education, and support groups.
